Spend Profile

Purpose

The Spend Profile is an expansion of the Estimate that profiles of spend in the estimate throughout the Project.  It is to define for each Deliverable how much is planned to be spent and when.

The Spend Profile will be used to ensure that the Estimates and Schedule are realistic and achievable.

During the implementation of the Project the Spend Profile will be updated to show the actual spend and where necessary forecast future spends.

Derivation and Source Requirements

The resource profile will be derived using the Schedule and Estimate.

During the implementation the Spend Profile will be updated using the Resource Reports and Schedule.

Composition

The Spend Profile is a tabular and graphical representation of predicted spend against time for both internal labour by section (in terms of cost) and external spend (CAPEX).

The resource profile will, for each deliverable identify the baseline estimate, actual spend to date (month) and predicted spend in the future (for each month).

Quality Criteria

Does the Spend Profile support and align with the:

·       Schedule,

·       Estimate and

·       Deliverable Breakdown Diagram.

Has the resource profile been reviewed and agreed with the Team Managers?

Is the Profile base-lined and under configuration control?

Can the resource profile be easily used to generate monthly performance charts?

Quality method and skills

The review of the Estimate and Schedule will include a review of the Spend Profile and these three items are to be consistent.
